representative of the project to learn about the indigenous culture and the
history of the area and the daily life of the people living in the community.
Overnight at home-stay and experience rural Cambodia at its most authentic.

Breaky
on the terrace again at 6:30am then it was downstairs to check out and say
farewell to the other small group who had joined us for a while. Although nice people I am not sad to see the
end of the ones who were often late and held up the whole group. The
first part of the journey was by bus due to the traffic chaos in the city.
It was then on the bikes for our ride to a very beautiful temple built in
the 1990s. One of the nicest I've seen
this trip.
After
a drink, a bite to eat and a wander in the temple we headed off to our lunch
stop which was in a temple's shelter area. The majority of the road was rough
and potholed with plenty of water from overnight storms; great for mountain
bikes. After lunch and about 8 km on a
very busy main road we pulled over and they loaded the bikes on the truck.
We were supposed to go for a walk to a
waterfall but ran out of time and light so went straight to the Kirirom
Hillside Resort. Showered then to dinner, which seemed light on for
people who had cycled in hot rugged conditions all day. It wasn't like we
could slip down the local shop for a snack as we were in the middle of
nowhere. We survived ok though.

Every now and again we’d be
given a packed lunch wrapped in banana leaves within a box made out of palm
leaves. However it came with plastic
containers and bags so not completely biodegradable.
